Private Helicopter Add-On
If you seek to pursue non-commercial helicopter flight, this is the program for you. All you need is a private pilot certificate and a current third-class FAA medical certification (or above). Our private helicopter training add-on program will provide you with the knowledge, experience and Pilot In Command (PIC) hours you need to add a helicopter rating to your current license.
Our combination of classroom instruction and hands-on flight training will ensure that you have the knowledge and experience you need. We cover everything from rotor system aerodynamics to rotorcraft systems, performance, weight and balance. You will learn takeoffs and landings, hovering and other basic maneuvers.
Commercial Helicopter Add-On
If you seek to add a commercial helicopter rating to your current pilot’s license, we offer Tulsa’s most comprehensive commercial helicopter add-on program.
The requirements for this add-on are that you possess a current commercial pilot’s license and a current FAA medical certification (third-class or above). You will receive both ground and in-flight instruction, covering all the relevant areas of theoretical and practical knowledge you will require.
Instrument Rating Helicopter Add-On
If you already hold an instrument certificate as a fixed-wing pilot, this course will provide you with the specific skills and knowledge required to safely conduct instrument flight in helicopters.
This course covers specific topics that include helicopter-specific instrument approach procedures, regulations and airspace requirements for helicopter operations, advanced helicopter navigation using GPS, VOR, and ILS systems, and adverse weather avoidance strategies and decision-making for helicopters.
An additional requirement for this add-on course is that you currently hold third-class (or higher) FAA medical certification.
