Find Out What Helicopter Flying Really Feels Like
A discovery flight gives you a real first look at helicopter training without asking you to commit to a full program. You will sit in the aircraft, work with an instructor, and get a feel for the controls before deciding what comes next.
What Is Included
Your one-hour discovery flight is built around orientation, comfort, and hands-on flying. Before takeoff, your instructor explains the basics of helicopter control, points out what you will see in the cockpit, and walks you through what to expect once the aircraft is running.
In the air, you can take the controls, practice straight-and-level flight, and try hovering with instructor guidance. You will fly in TruFlight's modern Cabri G2 helicopter, the same aircraft our students use for training.
Who This Flight Is For
This experience is for the aviation-curious, future students, and anyone who wants to understand helicopters from the pilot seat. No prior flight experience is needed.
It is also a smart first step if you are considering helicopter pilot training and want to meet the team, see the aircraft, and understand the training environment before enrolling.

What Happens On Flight Day
Flight day is designed to feel clear and relaxed from the start. You will meet your instructor, talk through basic safety expectations, get familiar with the cockpit, and see how the helicopter is prepared before the flight begins.
Once airborne, your instructor leads the experience and keeps the flight comfortable. You may see helicopter maneuvers demonstrated, then take the controls when conditions allow. Most guests get to feel straight-and-level flight and try the challenge that makes helicopters so different from airplanes: holding a hover.
After landing, you can debrief the flight, ask what you felt in the controls, and talk through possible next steps. For many students, this is the moment helicopter training changes from an idea into a real plan.
From Discovery Flight To Private Pilot Training
If the flight leaves you wanting more time in the cockpit, the usual next step is private helicopter pilot training. Private Pilot training builds the foundation for aircraft control, flight planning, weather awareness, and the judgment needed to fly safely.
Booking a discovery flight does not obligate you to enroll. It simply gives you a practical reference point before you compare programs, timelines, aircraft, and training costs.
